dermaquest tca peels

Kate our most experienced cosmetic technician performs dermaquests 7 % TCA peels.

Combining -TCA 7% and Salicylic Acid 2% we can provide a professional peel treatment with all the benefits of a 30% TCA peel without the side effects. It is derived from plant extracts, it dissolves the top layer of the stratum corneum, providing a smoother, softer appearance to the skin.

This peel can:

  • improve overall skin tone and texture
  • improve photodamaged skin
  • improve comedonal acne
  • reduce fine lines and wrinkles
  • evens coloring and lightens pigmentation

At your consultation our cosmetic technician will assess your skin and take a skin and medical history to assess if you are suitable for this treatment.

A test patch will be performed if you want to proceed with the peel and you will need to purchase skin care preparation products to use for 2 weeks before the procedure and at least 1 week after.

Clients that would like a peel for rejuvenation purposes such as a softer, smoother, clearer or more even skin tone can have just one peel and may have up to three peels a year.

If you want to lighten pigmentation, reduce acne scarring or have significant photo ageing a course of 3 is recommended. 1 every month for 3 months, a minimum of 4 weeks must be left between each treatment. This will be discussed at your consultation. If have significant photo ageing and would prefer a stronger single peel, you can book a 30% peel with Emma, the procedure is the same but the downtime can be several days longer and the peeling even deeper.

It is important that you follow the recommended advice on skin care from your therapist. The skin must be prepared 2 weeks before the treatment for skin types 1 -3 and 4 – 6 weeks for pigmentation and skin types 4 – 6. The products must also be used for one to two weeks afterwards. It is important that you stop using the Glycolic wash 24 hours before your treatment and do not use it for a week after the treatment.

Following the peel the skin will feel tight as if you have been out in the sun for too long, the skin will look red with some white frosted areas. We will apply some mineral makeup before you leave so you can continue life as normal. Your skin will be a little sensitive for a few days and may look pinky red or browner. On day 2 to 3 your skin will appear dry tight and wrinkly but should cover easily with mineral makeup. The skin will normally peel on day 3 and this peeling can last for 2 – 3 days, sometimes the skin can peel more than once. This peeling period is harder to disguise with makeup. If you are having the peel to lighten pigmentation then the areas of pigmentation can go darker before it peels off.

It is important that when you go home after you have had the peel that you avoid any heat or steam, such as cooking and ironing. This is because the heat can reheat the skin. You must avoid getting the skin wet for 4 hours, after this you may cleanse the skin at any time. You should avoid exercise for 4 days after the peel. Swimming must be avoided for 4 days after the peel because the chlorine in the water can irritate the skin.

You should avoid sunlight for at least a month after treatment and use a high SPF at all times
