earlobe repair

Many men and women are wearing heavy or large earrings which can result in elongation and stretching of the pierced hole and of the earlobe.

The earlobe is the lower, fleshy part of the ear that is sometimes pierced.

The earlobe is a delicate piece of skin that is made up of fat and skin.

A split earlobe is more likely to happen in those that wear heavy ear jewelery constantly.

Who is Earlobe Repair suitable for ?

Earlobe repair involves the treatment of stretched or split earlobes.

Split earlobes are generally caused by over-stretching of an ear piercing due to heavy earrings or accidental tearing when wearing earrings.

Stretched earlobes are due to the deliberate expansion of a healed piercing for the purpose of wearing certain types of jewelry. If given enough time holes of up to about 6mm or 8mm can shrink back down to a normal piecing size especially in younger people. Larger holes are less likely to return to normal.

Regardless of the cause of the tearing or stretching, earlobe repair can help correct your earlobe appearance and allow you to wear earrings again.

What does Earlobe Repair involve?

Earlobe repair is a quick and effective surgical procedure which takes about an hour and is performed with local anesthesia.

For split ears this involves removing the damaged ear piercing tract and suturing together the outer and inner layers of skin as well as the fatty tissue in between. This split-lobe repair surgery can't be performed until the original split / wound has healed.

Stretched earlobe repair surgery is performed in the same manner as split earlobe repair surgery, however it may take slightly longer.  An incision is made in the earlobes and then stitched to repair the affected area.  It is a relatively quick and simple procedure conducted under local anaesthetic.

What to expect after Earlobe Repair

After your earlobe repair surgery there will be small scars on the ears which will be red. Overtime they will fade to a pale pink/ silver colour. After 4-6 months the earlobe should look almost completely normal with no obvious signs of the previous piercing. Ears can be re-pierced 6 months after the operation has taken place.

Prices for this procedure start from £590 for a simple repair of 1 earlobe and £700 for a simple repair of 2 earlobes.
