Probiotic Facials

What are Probiotic Facials?

Probiotic Facials are a novel treatment created and performed by Dr Vaidya exclusively at Cheshire Lasers. This facial uses the power of probiotics to restore balance to the skin.

Probiotics are live bacterial cultures that, when applied topically, influence the composition of skin micro-flora. Through the fermentation process, probiotic bacteria produce acidic compounds like lactic acid, reducing the pH of skin. Acidifying the skin discourages the growth of most pathogens favouring the growth of resident flora. This resident flora, in turn, maintains healthy skin and beautiful complexion and helps strengthen the skin natural defences.

Topical probiotics and their lysates have been shown to be of value in treating acne and are even touted as a great alternative to topical antibiotics. A topical product containing a 5% extract of Lactobacillus plantarum was found to reduce erythema, acne lesion size and improve skin barrier in patients with acne. Topical probiotics have also been evaluated for treating sensitive, dry skin and eczematous skin with great benefits.

Probiotics taken as food in the form of fermented products such as saur kraut, kombucha, yoghurt drinks like kefir or in the form of capsules also enhance the effect of the facial

What does a Probiotic Facial involve?

The Probiotic Facial involves cleansing with a probiotic cleanser, gently exfoliating with probiotics and finally preparing the skin for nourishment with a potent dose of topical probiotics and antioxidants.

How long does the treatment last?

Allow an hour for your skin assessment, treatment and advice about aftercare.

What skin conditions do Probiotic Facials help?

Dry skin
Acne prone skin
Inflammatory skin conditions such as Rosacea.
Antiageing: there’s some evidence that probiotics may help to build collagen, the main protein in skin that affects its texture and tone.

Can I combine treatments?

Combination treatments often deliver the best results.

Probiotic extracts in conjunction with medication can reduce the redness seen in rosacea, and also improve and strengthen the skin barrier to reduce its stinging, burning and dryness

The Probiotic Facial can be combined with microneedling or the probiotic solution can also be injected using a mesogun to enhance its effects.

A good skin nutrition plan provided alongside the facials is also a great way to ensure beautiful complexion.

How many treatments will I  need?

Some people see immediate benefits following the first facial but for optimal results a course of facials every two weeks is usually recommended.

Are there any side effects ?

Not usually. You may have slight redness of the face just after, but usually subsides within a few hours

Are there any contraindications?

How much is a Probiotic Facial ?
