Whats is Long COVID?

Most people who have COVID-19 recover completely in a few weeks. Unfortunately, some people continue to experience a variety of symptoms after their initial recovery from the infection.

Older people are the most likely to experience lingering COVID-19 symptoms. The symptoms experienced are often now called “long covid”. The exact reason for these symptoms are not yet fully understood. It may be a side effect of the infection possibly due to residual inflammation caused by the original infection.

The most common signs and symptoms that linger over time include:

  • Fatigue
  • Cough
  • Chest pains
  • Shortness of breath
  • Headache
  • Muscle aches
  • Joint pain
  • Memory loss and or poor concentration
  • Mood changes: e.g anxiety, depression

How can Reflexology Help Long COVID?

The Association of Reflexologists has developed guidelines using specific reflexology techniques to help restore physical and emotional wellness to patients who are still struggling with long term symptoms after suffering from COVID.
These reflexology techniques are not an alternative to seeking medical advice. Before considering reflexology treatment make sure you speak to your doctor first, to make sure there is nothing more serious causing your symptoms, which may need medical assessment and treatment.
Reflexology may aid and improve some of the symptoms including mood, fatigue, aches and pains. Heidi, our reflexologist, has studied the  Association of Reflexologists’ guidelines and techniques and can offer you holistic support by devising you a personalised treatment plan for your individual active symptoms.
