Cyspera® is a biological depigmenting cream for treating melasma and hyperpigmentation concerns.

The active ingredient is cysteamine is naturally present in human skin cells. It regulates melanin synthesis in the skin and is a highly effective topical treatment for pigmentation. The new formulation of Cyspera Intensive contains 7% Cysteamine.

Hyperpigmentation and Melasma are common skin conditions in which some areas of the skin become darker than the surrounding skin. Isobionic-Amide, Retinol and an anti-oxidative complex to provide a visual pigment correction effect by and also provides an anti-inflammatory effect to the skin.

How to use Cyspera Intensive System

Always apply Cyspera Intensive Cream on rested (unwashed) skin.

Do not wash the skin before application.

If you need to remove make-up before applying, wash your face and wait one hour before applying.

It is essential for the skin to acclimatise to Cyspera Intensive cream by limiting initial use to 5 minutes once per day.

After one week, increase to 15 minutes.

If you experience irritation, discontinue use for a few days until your skin recovers, then restart the application for 5 mins.

Apply the cream over the pigmentation / melasma only. You do not need to apply it everywhere. Dont worry it will not leave your skin looking patchy.

We recommend you use SPF 50 to enhance the results.

Use the system once per day, every day, for 16 weeks or until you achieve the effect you want to achieve.

Maintenance phase:

What is Emepelle?

The Emepelle is a skin regime:

A serum for use in the morning

A rich cream for use at night

They contain a host of active ingredients, including retinol, antioxidants and hyaluronic acid, but what makes Emepelle totally different to even the best traditional anti-ageing creams is that it also contains MEP Technology®.

MEP Technology is a new kind of ingredient that rejuvenates menopausal skin. It encourages the skin to behave as if the oestrogen were still there. MEP doesn’t add oestrogen to the body. Instead, it helps key skin cells work the way they did before menopause when they were being stimulated by oestrogen. This process helps restore lost collagen and vitality. Resulting in younger-looking skin that’s hydrated, brighter and firmer.

As you approach and go through menopause, oestrogen levels decline, causing accelerated collagen loss and skin ageing, leading to dehydration, dryness, sagging, dullness and more wrinkles. That’s why so many women see their appearance change rapidly during menopause.

Product Update

Revitatrol has had an upgrade and is now called Hydrating Creme. It has moved into the ZO Skin Health packaging.

Hydrating Crème helps improve the overall appearance of the skin by restoring hydration, calming redness and smoothing skin texture. With continued use, patients reported that their skin felt healthier and smoother, and was more hydrated and less red.

After 4 weeks of use, 89% of patients showed significant improvement in skin hydration. After 8 weeks, 70% of patients showed significant improvement in redness, 100% of patients showed significant improvement in texture and smoothness and 82% reported diminished itching.

Restoracalm has now been discontinued.

How to Improve Eye Wrinkles with Creams

Many serums and creams designed for the eye area can treat and or prevent eye wrinkles.

The ingredients to look out for are:

  • Retinol.
  • Antioxidants
  • Patented peptides.
  • AHAs
  • Hyaluronic acid / B5 serum

Retinol

Retinol helps prevent fine lines as well as smooth the ones you’ve got. By stimulating your collagen and new cell turnover, it reduces collagen breakdown and stimulates the cells to work faster to create fresh, bright, non-wrinkled skin.
It takes a few months of consistent regular use to see any impact on your lines. You will probably experience some redness, dryness, and flakiness within the first month or two of use.
To help reduce the side effects, you can start slowly and use a retinol one night a week for one week, twice a week for two weeks, three times a week for three weeks, and then every other day until you can tolerate it and also get results. Then you need to continue for, well, life !!

A gentle retinol will cause less reaction but fewer results; stronger retinols will give better results but more reaction. This can be annoying, but you must persevere for anti-ageing results. Stronger retinols are only available from clinics like Cheshire Lasers. You will be advised how to use the product, and support is provided to help you achieve results.
Some people are highly responsive to retinol, while others require high-strength products to achieve results.

Antioxidants

Antioxidants control / prevent free-radicals. Free-radicals are the main reason for skin damage created by sun exposure, smoking, alcohol and other environmental factors. You can prevent free radical damage by consuming more antioxidants in your diet, usually found in fruits or vegetables deep in colour. Applying an antioxidant serum can also make a big difference.

Antioxidant products contain vitamin C, vitamin E and Nicotinamide (vitamin B3) which is now considered to be one of the most potent antioxidants, possibly more effective than vitamin C.

AHAs

AHAs are alpha hydroxy acids, sometimes referred to as fruit acids. They can also be derived from nuts and milk:
They include:
glycolic acid, derived from sugar cane
lactic acid, derived from milk
mandelic acid, derived from bitter almonds
citric acid, naturally found in citrus fruit but derived from many fruit and vegetables
tartaric acid, derived from grapes
malic acid, derived from apples and pears

AHAs work by exfoliating the top layer of skin, allowing newer, healthier skin cells to show through. They are particularly useful in dry skin and may help to diminish the appearance of wrinkles.
Studies have shown that AHAs may also stimulate collagen production and reduce the changes caused by the sun damaging the skin.

Newer, more exciting products are PHAs. They are similaAHA’sAHA’s in that they perform the same role of exfoliation, but unAHA’sAHA’sAHPHA’sPHA’s are gentler on the skin, causing less irrit,awhich ison so common to many alpha hydroxy acids. A great product to use under the eye.

Obagi Nu-Derm

The Obagi Nu-Derm System is a prescription-only skincare system which accelerates skin cell turnover. The system penetrates deep to improve pigmentation and damage in all layers of the skin.

Dr Teri Johnson provides the consultations for the Obagi Nu-derm System at Cheshire Lasers as the tretamnet has to be prescribed. She can advise you which regime would suit you best and also give you advice and support throughout the treatment.

The Obagi Nu-Derm System optimises skin functions at the cellular level to help it look and act younger and healthier. The active ingredients trigger a cascade of actions that:

  • Promotes new skin cells on the surface, resulting in smoother skin and reduced lines and wrinkles
  • Reduces uneven pigmentation found in freckles, melasma and age spots and prevents the formation of new pigmentation
  • Promotes uniform distribution of cells at the deep layers improving skin structure and evening tone
  • Boosts collagen and elastin production for firmer and resilient skin with fewer lines and wrinkles
  • Improves circulation and nutrient supply for natural hydration and healthy glowing skin

The Nu-Derm system includes:

  • Obagi Gentle Cleanser – a soap-free cleanser for all skin types, especially sensitive and dry skin or Obagi Foaming Gel Cleanser – for oily to normal skin types, thoroughly cleans away impurities and make-up.
  • Obagi Toner – uses a natural astringent that regulates the skin’s PH in order to make it more open to hydroquinone penetration.

  • Obagi Blender – the product has 4% hydroquinone and is mixed with a tretinoin-based cream.

How do I use the Nu-Derm system?

  • Prepare the skin by cleansing and toning:

Cleansing and toning makes your skin more receptive to the correction process.

Apply the cleanser recommended by us either GENTLE CLEANSER 1 or FOAMING GEL 1- to wet skin, rinse with lukewarm water and gently pat dry. Avoid rubbing the skin with a towel.

TONER 2 -Apply to entire face with a cotton ball or cotton square, avoiding the eye area.

 

  • Correct Repairs damage to the skin’s surface, correcting hyper-pigmentation (sun and age spots) and uneven skin tone while smoothing skin roughness.

CLEAR 3 – Apply Clear evenly on the entire face, extending to the hairline.

EXFODERM or EXFODERM FORTE 4 Apply evenly over entire face, avoiding the eye area. Wait until the cream is absorbed.

 

  • Stimulate Damage to the deeper skin layers is repaired. Skin elasticity is restored by enhancing the production of collagen and elastin.

BLENDER and TRETINOIN Apply 1/2 gram of Blender mixed with the prescribed amount of tretinoin. Apply evenly on the entire face, extending to the hairline. 5 (Rx only)

 

  • Protect Prevent further damage from harmful UVA and UVB rays.

Apply SunShield

Note: Prolonged sun exposure should be avoided for the first month.

What happens during the Obagi Nu-Derm Treatment?

You can expect to experience four phases as you transform into a healthier, younger-looking appearance. The length of time between the phases will vary based on age, skin type, amount of damage and compliance.

Initial phase

the damaged top layer of skin is replaced by a new layer of fresh, healthy skin cells. This process takes approximately 6 weeks.

During this phase, you can expect to experience one or more of these symptoms:

  • freckles, age spots and dark patches begin fading
  • exfoliation and flaking
  • redness and dryness
  • wrinkles and acne may look worse temporarily

These reactions are indications that the treatment is working. It is absolutely necessary to stay with the program to see these results.

Stimulation Phase

6 to 12 weeks. You begin to notice significant improvements in your skin. New skin cells continue reaching the surface and the production of collagen and elastin increases. Expect to notice:

  • wrinkles begin to reduce
  • tightening of pores
  • further lightening of freckles, age spots and dark patches
  • subsiding redness and flaking
