Surgeon Dr Will Allen performs Xanthelasma removal. He has specialist consultant training in cosmetic and facial reconstructive surgery and extensive experience treating the eye area.
Xanthelasma can be safely and effectively removed. Treatment focuses on eliminating the visible plaques while preserving the delicate eyelid skin and minimising scarring.
As these lesions do not typically resolve spontaneously, removal is often performed for cosmetic reasons. However, if lesions are enlarging or causing irritation, treatment may also improve comfort.
How Do You remove Xanthelasma?
Dr Allen will need to see you for a consultation to perform a thorough assessment and determine the most appropriate removal approach. He will discuss your treatment options to ensure the best possible outcome.
Dr Allen sometimes removes them via electrocautery under local anaesthetic.
He may, however, recommend a small surgical excision, as healing may be better. If surgery is recommended, you may need to attend a local specialist minor surgery clinic for the procedure.
Recovery and Aftercare
Post-treatment expectations may include:
Mild swelling or redness
Formation of small crusts (particularly with energy-based treatments)
Temporary pigment changes in some skin types
Healing generally occurs within 7–14 days, although complete skin remodelling may take several weeks. Strict sun protection and adherence to aftercare instructions are essential to optimise cosmetic outcomes.
Will Xanthelasma Come Back?
Recurrence is possible, particularly in patients with underlying lipid abnormalities. Addressing modifiable risk factors, including cholesterol management and lifestyle optimisation, may help reduce recurrence risk but does not guarantee prevention.
What are Xanthelasma?
Xanthelasma are soft, yellowish cholesterol-rich plaques that typically develop on the upper or lower eyelids, most commonly near the inner corners of the eyes. They form within the superficial dermis and, while benign and painless, can become more noticeable over time.
Why Do Xanthelasma Develop?
Xanthelasma are composed of lipid-laden foam cells deposited within the skin. Contributing factors may include:
Elevated cholesterol or triglycerides
Familial hyperlipidaemia
Increasing age
Genetic predisposition
Certain metabolic conditions
Some patients have no obvious underlying systemic abnormality.
Although xanthelasma are often associated with lipid metabolism disorders, many patients with normal cholesterol levels also develop them. For this reason, it is always a good idea to arrange a clinical assessment and blood lipid testing with your GP.
Book a Consultation
If you are concerned about xanthelasma or would like to explore removal options, a clinical assessment can determine the most suitable treatment for your individual case. Early treatment of smaller lesions often produces the most favourable cosmetic outcomes.
Should you prefer more information before your consultation, please email us at cheshirelasers@hotmail.co.uk so we can send your query to Dr Allen. Enclosing a photograph can often be helpful.
Cheshire Lasers Clinic in Middlewich is excited to now offer the Sunekos 1200 Proforma System.
Whats is Sunekos?
Sunekos is an injectable treatment containing 6 amino acids and Hyaluronic acid. It works by stimulating the fibroblasts in the skin to produce collagen and elastin. Sunekos helps to improve skin ageing, skin dryness, acne scarring, sun damage, loss of tone & elasticity, dark circles under the eyes and fine lines and wrinkles.
It is particularly effective in the periocular (eye) area for reducing fine lines, dark circles, and bags.
Sunekos is a natural product that not only stimulates the synthesis of collagen types 1 and 3 but also supports the synthesis of collagen types 4 and 7, as well as elastin, restoring elasticity and volume to the skin. It is a great option for people who want to improve their skin while maintaining a natural appearance.
Sunekos is also a great option for people who do not want Botox or filler treatments.
I recently had Botox and fillers. Can I still have a Sunekos treatment?
Yes. You can have a Sunekos treatment alongside other treatments to improve your skin’s quality.
Which areas can it treat?
Sunekos can treat the skin on different parts of the face and body, including the face, neck, décolleté, and hands.
Many people opt for a full-face treatment, but it can also be used on localised areas, such as under the eyes.
It is particularly effective in the periocular area to reduce dark circles and bags, as well as on the forehead.
Sunekos can treat various indications, including loss of tone, skin ageing and premature skin ageing, skin dryness, solar elastosis, acne scarring, sun damage, dark circles under the eyes and fine lines and wrinkles.
What does the treatment involve?
A Sunekos treatment consists of a series of injections in the treatment area.
Depending on the area being treated, the Sunekos 1200 Proforma protocol typically requires 3 treatments over a 4-week period. (One every 2 weeks)
Each treatment normally takes about 30 minutes.
A small percentage of people may need a 4th treatment 2 weeks later for best results.
Is there any Downtime?
The procedure has no downtime, and the patient can resume normal activities immediately. You will start to see some improvement after the first session.
You may have some bruising, however, which may take up to a week to resolve.
How long does Sunekos last?
Depending on the patients and the condition of their skin, results can last for up to 6 months before repeating the procedure.
Who performs this treatment?
Dr Teri Johnson performs Sunekos treatments at Cheshire Lasers.
Who Will Benefit from the ZO Peptide Facial Refining Concentrate?
Zo Skin Health Peptide Facial Refining Concentrate can help if you:
Are seeing both dynamic lines (from facial movement) and static lines (wrinkles visible even when face is relaxed).
Have signs of lost volume (e.g. around cheeks, under the eyes, or hollows) and want something that assists in “plumping” without immediately going to fillers.
Would like to maintain or prolong results from treatments like fillers or Botox.
Want to improve skin texture, firmness, and contour over time.
What the Clinical Study Found
In a 12-week independent clinical study of 49 women aged 47-72 (varied skin types), they saw:
84% reported visibly younger‐looking facial geometry (i.e. a more sculpted, balanced face overall)
86% saw improvement in facial hollow areas (places that may have lost fullness)
92% saw a reduction in the appearance of fine lines
While results aren’t instantaneous, users saw meaningful improvements over time.

ZPOLY™ Complex: A proprietary complex in the product meant to soothe visible redness and strengthen the skin barrier.
Fragrance-free and alcohol-free (so generally better tolerated, especially for sensitive skin).

Over the 12 weeks it involves a series of mixed treatments combining the following:
The ZFL treatment begins with a facial cleanse using the Zone Face Lift designed cleanser, followed by a luxurious hot towel steam to open up pores and stimulate blood and lymph flow. The hot towels penetrate the skin to expose younger cells and remove make up & pollutants.
After the cleansing and steaming the face, the crystal infused Facial Elixir is applied. This not only nourishes the skin but the therapeutic botanicals bring a deep sense of tranquillity and calm.
A full 30 minute facial reflexology sequence commences and this will be the way your ZFL treatment begins each week.
Zone Face Lift Massage
After the 30 minute facial reflexology treatment the Zone Face Lift transition smoothly follows.
Your facial treatment includes the use of Obsidian Facial Mushrooms to cool and soothe the skin, and promote the release of collagen, nourishing and calming the skin.
An Acupressure Roller which stimulates nerve endings and encourages natural healing with skin rejuvenation.
Next An Obsidian Facial Gua Sha then is used to sculpt and decongest the skin, draining lymphatic fluid, improve blood flow and circulation, even out skin tone and pigmentation and activates elastin making the skin plumper and tighter.
I will then apply a series of unique massage techniques to lift and sculpt the face using the Zone Face Lift techniques, unlike any other facial treatment you will have experienced.

More Information about Facial Reflexology – Bergman Method
The Bergman Method Facial Reflexology is a therapeutic technique developed by Ziggie Bergman that applies the principles of foot reflexology to the face.
Key Features:
Focuses on reflex points on the face that correspond to different parts of the body, aiming to restore balance and promote healing.
Gentle stimulation of these points boosts circulation, encourages lymphatic drainage, and supports the body’s natural healing processes.
Deeply relaxing, helping to reduce stress, tension, and related conditions such as migraines, sinus issues, and sleep problems.
Non-invasive and natural, making it a holistic alternative to more aggressive treatments.
Can also improve skin tone and appearance, as better circulation and muscle stimulation help achieve a healthy glow.
It’s often used alone or as part of the Zone Face Lift treatment, enhancing both emotional and physical wellbeing.
Facial Reflexology has all the benefits and principles of traditional Foot Reflexology. It is deeply relaxing with immediate effects due to the close proximity to the brain and central nervous system. Once the reflex points are activated a direct response occurs in the corresponding area of the body. This helps the body’s healing process, improving circulation and nerve supply as well as the release of toxins. Treatments also stimulate collagen and elastin which gives the effect of tighter, plumper more radiant skin.
Having trained with the world renowned Ziggie Bergman, founder of ‘The Bergman Method’ Facial Reflexology, and Zone Face Lift, Sharron offer these specialist and unique treatment here at Cheshire Lasers.
Which Products are used?
After a short consultation Sharron will begin to cleanse the face. She will then apply Ziggie Bergman’s Facial Elixir which lifts your Face & Spirit with silky Amethyst Crystal-Infused oil. This oil hydrates your skin and helps reduce fine lines to help you look radiant.

It improves the skin surface, treating pigmentation and poor texture while boosting collagen and elastin to reduce wrinkles and fine lines and simultaneously tightening the skin.
Unlike traditional laser treatments that work only on the skin’s surface, Neogen also penetrates deeper layers, making it a superior option for anyone seeking to reverse signs of ageing, repair sun damage, or improve overall skin texture and tone.
Is it similar to a Plasma Pen device?
No, it is very different from handheld devices, which create tiny injuries on the skin’s surface. Neogen uses nitrogen gas, which it converts into plasma energy. This energy treats the skin more uniformly on the surface and penetrates deeper into the skin. It improves both the epidermis and dermis layers, stimulating collagen production over time while treating a range of skin concerns.
What does a Neogen Treatment involve?
Cheshire Lasers uses the latest Neogen Plasma EVO Device, which has a range of settings to control the energy and enable various treatments, from mild to moderate to more aggressive. This ensures the outcome of the treatment chosen for you is predictable and reliable, with minimal risk of complications.
A handpiece delivers the nitrogen plasma energy and rapidly heats the skin, creating a controlled injury.
Most patients describe the feeling as warm but not painful. The intensity of the heat, however, can vary depending on the depth and intensity of the treatment. Lighter treatments feel milder, while more intensive sessions produce a stronger sensation that may require a topical anaesthetic.
The injury to the top layer leads to some superficial shedding of skin cells. This improves the skin’s texture, especially fine lines, age spots, and acne scars. It also triggers your body’s natural healing response, creating healthy new collagen and elastin, resulting in immediate skin tightening and firmer, tighter skin over time.
Whether you’re looking to enhance the overall appearance of your skin or target specific concerns, Neogen offers a tailored approach that meets your individual needs and downtime.
Which Areas Can Neogen Plasma Treat?
At Cheshire Lasers, we mainly treat the face with Neogen Plasma; however, we also treat the body.
This is the only treatment we can use to treat the eyelids.
What Skin Issues Can It Treat?

Lines & wrinkles
Large pores
Pigmentation (sunspots, freckles)

What are the Benefits of Neogen Skin Rejuvenation?
If you’re considering Neogen skin rejuvenation at our Cheshire Lasers Clinic, here are some of the key benefits that make this treatment stand out:
Non-Invasive: Neogen is a non-surgical, non-invasive treatment with minimal discomfort and downtime.
Quick Recovery: Most patients can return to their daily routine shortly after treatment, with any redness typically subsiding within a few days.
Long-Lasting Results: The skin continues to improve for months after the treatment as collagen production is stimulated.
Safe for All Skin Types: Neogen plasma technology is safe for all skin tones and types, making it a versatile option for anyone seeking rejuvenation.
Customisable Treatment Levels: Whether you’re looking for a mild refresh or a more intensive anti-ageing solution, Neogen can be tailored to your specific skin needs.
What to Expect During Your Neogen Treatment
Before your Neogen treatment, we ask that you attend a consultation with one of our specialists. They will assess your skin and create a treatment plan to suit your needs.
During the procedure, the practitioner will use the plasma device to deliver controlled energy to the treatment area, creating a warming sensation as the nitrogen plasma works its magic.
Sometimes, we will apply a topical anaesthetic, but this is only necessary if you are opting for a deeper treatment. Depending on the intensity of the treatment, sessions usually last between 30 minutes to an hour.
After treatment, we will give you some products to use on your skin for the next few days to ensure you avoid any products that may irritate or delay the healing process.

ZO Restorative Peel by Dr Zein Obagi MD – For Sensitive, Weak/Fragile Skin
Dr Obagi created the ZO Restorative Peel in 2024. This peel is extremely gentle on the skin and is great for restoring and hydrating dull, dry skin with redness and imperfections.
This peel contains a unique blend of alpha hydroxy acids (lactic, citric, and mandelic acid) to provide gentle surface exfoliation, instantly improving skin’s luminosity, texture, and tone for a restored complexion. It is appropriate for all skin types, especially dull, dry, weak, and redness-prone skin. It is also a good choice for sensitive acne-prone skin.
What happens during the ZO Restorative Peel?
Your skin will be cleansed using the appropriate cleanser from the ZO range to remove any makeup or oil. This is followed by ZO Exfoliating Polish and Polish Activator and ZO Peel Prep Solution to prepare the skin for the Peel.
The peel is then applied and left on for two to four minutes before neutralising Peel Neutraliser pads, which restores the skin’s pH.
A Brightening or Hydrating Medical mask is applied to boost your skin further.
The final step is using ZO Daily Power Defence moisturising serum and ZO Ommerse Renewal Cream to hydrate and protect your skin.
The active peel solution may cause some superficial peeling and slight initial reddening. However, the treatment exposes a new layer of healthy, undamaged skin, resulting in a smoother texture and even skin tone.
What are the benefits of the ZO Restorative Peel?
Instantly improving skin’s luminosity.
Improves skin texture and tone.
Soften fine lines and wrinkles.
Stimulate the production of collagen for firmer, more youthful skin.
Stimulate the growth of healthy cells while you shed damaged skin.

We do not recommend the peel for those who are:
Pregnant or breastfeeding
Using Roaccutane or prescription retinoids
Having radiation or chemotherapy
Allergic to lactic, citric, and mandelic acids
Do I need to prepare my skin before the peel?
You do not need to perform any preparation or use any specific skin care before the ZO Restorative Peel. However, you will get better results if you use some ZO products before the treatment.
How long does the treatment take?
The treatment will take about 45 minutes.
You will notice the results immediately. Your skin will be fresher, glowing, and with improved texture and tone. We recommend a course of treatments for optimum results.
How long before I see results?
Most people will see an improvement in their skin after just one peel. However, we recommend a course of 3 to 4 Peels, 4-6 weeks apart for maximum benefit.
Maintenance
Ideally, every four months or before special events.
Enhance the results of your ZO Restorative Peel.
An additional ZO Mask can be added to your Restorative Peel to enhance the results for your skin. If you opt for one of these, your treatment time will be 10 minutes longer :

Neogen Plasma Post-treatment Advice
Avoid Sun Exposure for four weeks after treatment.
Allow the peeling to occur naturally. Do not pick! Picking may result in an infection or scar.
Do Not apply any moisturiser until advised ( this depends on the level of your treatment), as applying hydrating products too early delays the peeling process.
For the first 24 hours:
Like a mild sunburn, your skin may feel warm and pink for several hours. It will be fragile, so treat it gently.
For all levels of treatment:
Do not cleanse the treated area for 24 hours.
Skin to be kept dry
Always wash your hands thoroughly using antibacterial soap before touching treated areas
Flaking Phase
Low Energy Treatments
Immediately after treatment, you will feel like you have a mild sunburn; your skin may feel warm and look pink for several hours. It will be fragile, so treat it gently.
You may need two, occasionally three days of recovery time with minimal, if any, skin peeling /flakiness.
After low-energy treatment, the skin must be kept dry for 24 hours.
After this period, you can use a mild water-based cleanser.
The old skin will come off as you wash your face; however, you may not be aware of it.
Avoid going outside the day after treatment to prevent exposing your skin to the sun.
We will provide you with the following aftercare:
A mild cleanser to use for the first few days after treatment.
All Skin Med Regenerating Growth factor serum ampules to apply for the day of treatment and the 2-3 days
All Skin Med Replenishing Cream to apply from day 3 unless you have some peeling. In which case, apply when peeling has almost completed.
Mineral SPF 50 to apply every day to protect the skin from the sun.
You can return to your usual skin routine 3-4 days after your skin has fully recovered.
You can apply makeup once your skin has recovered, usually on day three or four.
Mid-level Energy Treatment
There will be a recovery time of two to five days, with more noticeable skin flaking and peeling.
The skin will generally start to flake within two to five days.
Allow the skin to peel before applying moisturiser/rehydration unless it persists for a few days.
Apply a mild moisturiser or rehydration gel once the peeling is close to completion. Applying a moisturiser too soon can delay the peeling.
We will provide you with the following aftercare:
A mild cleanser to use for 7 days after treatment.
All Skin Med Regenerating Growth factor serum ampules to apply for the day of treatment and the 4-5 days
All Skin Med Replenishing Cream to apply from day 4 or 5, unless you have some peeling. In which case, apply when peeling has almost completed.
Mineral SPF 50 to apply every day to protect the skin from the sun.
You can return to your usual skin routine 5 days after your skin has fully recovered.
You can apply makeup once your skin is less sensitive, usually on day three or four.
Allow the peeling to occur naturally. Do not pick! Picking may result in an infection or scar.
High-Level Energy Treatment
Seven to ten days recovery time with skin peeling from day nine. The treatment area will appear red or sometimes darker for several days. You may also notice some swelling
Your practitioner might apply a barrier cream to the treated area to keep the skin moist normally; you should leave this on for 24 hours. After this, you may cleanse and reapply the barrier cream for 2 or 3 days, twice a day,
During the recovery time:
Do not use anti-ageing/exfoliating/harsh products
Avoid unintentional touching of the treated areas, such as rubbing your eyes
It is important that the treated skin is left in place until it is ready to flake.
Avoid exercise where skin may become flushed or sweaty
Avoid any hot or cold environments, e.g. sauna
Avoid contact with pets in the treatment area
Start to use a mild cleanser only when instructed.
Try to sleep on your back following treatment of the face. Using extra pillows can help
For higher-intensity treatments, change the pillowcase daily until you have healed.
Contact Cheshire Lasers if you have continued pain, blistering, oozing or concerns about itching in the treated area
After flaking
After your skin has flaked, it is important to resume the use of a zinc oxide or titanium dioxide-based SPF 30+ sunblock to decrease the possibility of hyperpigmentation
Resume use of a high-quality mild moisturiser.
New skin will have formed underneath the layer of treated skin that flakes this will be fragile and must be treated gently.
It is normal for the skin to have lighter and darker areas as it heals.
This is usually temporary and will fade within approximately 1 – 6 months.
The treated area will most likely heal without any pigment changes.
When can I return to make-up or shaving and activities:
It will generally be 2 to 3 days after treatment before you can apply makeup or shave. This will depend on whether you had a low-energy or high-energy treatment.
We will advise you about this at your consultation.
What possible reactions may I experience after a Neogen Plasma Treatment?
