Botox is the name most people use for a range of various cosmetic and medical treatments.Botox is one of the first brand names used for this prescription only treatment and is produced by Allergan.
The term Botox usually refers to the use of Botulinum Toxin type A to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Botulinum Toxin is a protein which acts as a neurotoxin produced by the bacterium Clostridium Botulinum.
Botulinum Toxin has been around since the 1980’s when it was first used for facial muscle spasms and crossed eyes (strabismus).
Data shows treatments are safe with a few short term side effects such as minimal bruising at the injection sites and minor headaches which are short lived. Some people worry that Botox may be dangerous, however administered in the correct manner by a skilled medical professional carries very little risk.
Botox treatments are performed by the following Doctors and Nurses at Cheshire Lasers:
Here at Cheshire Lasers, we offer a wide range of treatments for improving pigmentation. Different treatments often suit different pigment conditions.
On this page, we discuss the different conditions and what we recommend to improve them.
Birthmarks
Some birthmarks are easy to treat, while others are much more difficult. At Cheshire Lasers, we are able to successfully treat vascular birthmarks such as port wine stains with our advanced IPL Lumina system.
Brown birthmarks are much harder to treat and do not always respond to treatment; an ND Yag laser would be used to treat this type of pigmentation. If the brown birthmark does respond and go, there is a 50% risk it will recur over a 2-year period. We often recommend you visit Lynton Lasers in Homes Chapel for these as they have a different laser than can be used.
This treatment is usually only suitable for skin types 1 to 3.
Before starting treatment we may recommend you use a lightening skin product from one of our skin care product ranges 2- 6 weeks before starting an IPL or Laser treatment. This is often required for skins that are darker or are more prone to pigmentation.
For IPL and Laser treatment please book a consultation with Natasha our laser technician. She will advise you how to proceed and if you are ready to go ahead with treatment she can do a test patch at the time of the consultation.
Some people prefer to treat their pigmentation with a peel. This is usually recommended by us for people with a larger areas of pigmentation. The advantages of the perfect peel is the minimal down time compared to IPL and lasers and the process is pain free. After one application the age spots are remarkably lighter and many people are happy. However a course of 2-3 peels may be required for them to be unnoticeable. The ingredients not only improve pigmentation but also increase collagen and elastin production, resulting in skin that is brighter and tighter. Find out more about the perfect peel here.
Melasma
Melasma presents as dark, irregular patches on the face that develop over time. The dark patches are commonly found on sun-exposed areas such as the upper cheeks, nose, upper lip and forehead. Melasma is most common in women and is often triggered by pregnancy and or the contraceptive pill. Melasma worsens when the skin is exposed to sunlight, especially in the summer.
The treatment of melasma can be tricky with some people. The superficial (epidermal) type melasma often shows an excellent response to therapy. However, deeper melasma (dermal melasma) can often have a suboptimal effect on many treatments. This is why the first step to treatment involves a detailed consultation with one of our healthcare professionals. The cause and type of melasma can be established and treatment can be individualised and tailored to each patient’s needs.
There are several treatments available at Cheshire Lasers to treat Melasma.
The Obagi NuDerm system gives fantastic results with melasma, even after a few weeks use, the pigment usually looks so much better. You need to continue on the system for 18 weeks, after which your skin usually looks great. After 18 weeks you need to go on to a simpler maintenance regime to avoid rebound pigmentation. If you suddenly stop the treatment, the pigment usually comes back. Occasionally, stubborn Melasma may need a peel to complete the treatment on this system.
Cystamine is a fantastic skin-lightening agent used to treat hyperpigmentation disorders such as age spots, melasma and post-inflammatoryhyperpigmentation.
It is a novel, highly effective alternative to prescription treatments such as hydroquinone and tretinoin. All skin types can use Cysteamine Cream, including dark skin and is a great option for stubborn pigmentation, including melasma and post-inflammatory pigmentation.
The Perfect Peel can be used on its own for melasma in fair-skinned patients. Peels should be used very carefully for darker skin types and often, a combination of treatments are required. This is because they are associated with a higher risk of post‑inflammatory hyperpigmentation ( PIH) after skin injury. Hence a consultation is required before having this peel.
At Cheshire Lasers, we do not like to use our Intense Pulsed Light or ND Yag Laser to treat Melasma. There is a higher risk of side effects and the response rate is poor.
The challenge with treating melasma and some pigmentation is that it commonly relapses after treatment.
The most important way of preventing pigmentation is to wear a good sun protection all year round and a sun block in the Summer.
To try and prevent melasma and stubborn pigmentation maintenance therapy is required. This can be performed using similar skin care to what is used for its treatment but on a maintenance regime. We recommend you start skin care immediately after treatment. We also advise you attend regular reviews at the clinic in case your regime needs changing. So we can help you manage the pigmentation to reduce the risk of it returning.
For a more holistic approach there is increasing evidence that diet has a significant impact on skin inflammation, post inflammatory acne, and melasma. If you struggle with pigmentation and can not get it under control. We highly recommend an assessment with Dr Priyanka at Cheshire Lasers to look at your Pigmentation, your removal treatments so far and to explore this holistic approach.
Cheshire Lasers is excited to now have the Ultraformer MF2 wrinkle treatment.
The sensitive and shallow regions around the eye, the mouth and the forehead can now be treated with ultrasound technology with ease due to the newly developed MF2 Ultraformer Treatment.
What can the MF2 Ultraformer Wrinkle Cartridge treat?
The great news is that we can improve fine lines and wrinkles with only one treatment. However, we recommend a course of around three treatments for best results. Different people respond differently and have their skin has different needs and starting points.
We have treated upper lips with the Ultraformer MF2 with considerable success so far. This is an excellent treatment for smokers lines and would suit someone who is afraid to have Dermal Fillers but wants improvement to the area with no downtime.
This treatment is also suitable for someone who has had fillers in that area already, and the lines are starting to come back, but they are not ready for more fillers.
The Perioral Area
The area in the image is treated to improve fine lines and wrinkles. This treatment improves the smokers lines and the cobblestone effect that can occur in this area due to age and sun-damage.
The Under Eye Area
We have treated the under eye area the Ultraformer MF2 and seen impressive results so far.
This area is challenging to improve; in the past, the treatments we have tried have required many repeat treatments and given only slight improvements or have been too invasive, requiring an extended downtime.
The MF2 treatment may only require three treatments, and there is no downtime.
There is the option to also treat the crow’s feet and part of the upper eyelid with this treatment.
The treatment feels like warm pulses of ultrasound energy, which may feel uncomfortable for some people. Treatment around the mouth and perioral areas may feel sensitive in the teeth momentarily.
How many Ultraformer MF2 treatments will I need?
Some people will see a small improvement after one treatment but generally, we recommend a course of 3 treatments once a month. However, this will depend on the severity of the condition to start with and the collagen stimulation response of each client.
At Cheshire Lasers, we have found fine lines and wrinkles that have been there a few years have needed 2-3 treatments. Whereas lines that have been there many years have required at least 5 or 6 procedures.
Can I have the Ultraformer MF2 treatment if I have Botox or fillers?
The MF2 treatment is an alternative treatment to fillers; however, it can be used alongside a filler treatment to create even better results.
If a dermal filler is in the treatment area, we ask that you leave three months for the filler to integrate with the tissues before having an Ultraformer treatment. For Botox, the MF2 treatment can be performed in the same area 2 weeks after the injections.
How long will the Ultraformer MF2 results last for?
Following the final treatment session of the course, it will take 60-100 days for the collagen to stimulate and for the full results to be visible. The results can last up to 12 months. However most people like to have a maintenance treatment every 2-4 months.
Are there any side effects to the Ultraformer MF2 treatment?
Common side effects after the treatment are redness and swelling. This normally reduces a few hours after and you can go back to your regular daily activities straight away.
Bruising can occur, which is more likely around the eye area.
Am I suitable for an Ultraformer MF2 treatment?
We do not recommend the Ultraformer treatment if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
If you have teeth implants in the treatment area or metal braces. However invisaline braces, veneers and fillings are all fine.
Cheshire Lasers often receives enquiries asking how we can help treat scarring and acne scars.
Dr Teri Johnson discusses the various treatments available for scars and how they work.
What are Scars?
Scars develop after trauma to the skin; this can be due to an injury, post-surgery, or skin conditions such as acne. They are a natural part of the body’s healing process and occur when the skin’s deeper layers are damaged. This results in the formation of fibrous tissue to repair the injury. Scars may vary in appearance, texture, and size, depending on factors such as the type and severity of the injury, individual healing characteristics, and the scar’s location on the body.
When it comes to acne scarring, any type of acne spot can lead to scarring, but it’s more common when the most serious types of spots (nodules and cysts) burst and damage nearby skin. Scarring can also occur if you pick your skin or squeeze a spot, so it’s important not to do this.
While scars are permanent, they often fade and become less noticeable over time but may still remain visible.
Which Treatments Help Scars?
At Cheshire Lasers, we provide the following treatments for acne scarring:
Laser Treatments: can be ablative and non-ablative.
Punch techniques
Sometimes, for best results, a combination of treatments is required.
Polynucleotides
Polynucleotide therapy is a new way to treat scars. It involves injecting special substances made of DNA and RNA into the scar tissue. Here’s how it works:
Makes Skin Stronger: These substances help the skin make more collagen, which is like a building block that makes skin stronger and helps scars heal better.
Helps Skin Repair: PN therapy helps damaged skin repair itself faster, making scars look better over time.
Reduces Redness and Itching: Scars can be red and itchy because of inflammation. PN therapy can help calm down this inflammation, making scars less red and itchy.
Makes Skin More Flexible: Scars often feel tight and stiff. PN therapy can make the skin more flexible by adding more collagen so scars feel softer and move better.
Improves Scar Colour: Sometimes, scars are darker than the surrounding skin. PN therapy can help lighten the colour of scars, making them blend in better with the rest of the skin.
Polynucleotide injectable treatments are safe with very little downtime. They work well in combination with other treatments to enhance the results.
Overall, they strengthen the skin, helping it repair faster and reducing redness and itching. It’s a simple treatment that can make a big difference for people with scars.
Microneedling, also known as skin needling, involves using small needles to cause tiny punctures in the skin. These small contact points encourage the body to create a wound-healing response. The needling also can break down old scar tissue and stimulate the production of new skin cells. New collagen and elastin grow as the skin repairs to give a smoother, plumper skin surface.
This treatment also improves skin texture leading to smoother skin and reduces pores size and fine lines. Microneedling can also reduce pigmentation, which is sometimes seen with some scarring.
Before and after three microneedling treatments for acne scars at Cheshire Lasers.
This treatment combines microneedling with radiofrequency energy. The combination treatment is much more effective than microneedling on its own. The radiofrequency energy heats the tissue in the region of 55 – 65°C and, depending on the depth, it stimulates cell renewal, new collagen, increased hydration and also skin resurfacing. The heat is more effective at stimulating fibroblast action, which is responsible for healing and repair.
Radiofrequency Microneeding is a more aggressive treatment than normal microneedling; however, surprisingly, the downtime is often much less. Here at Cheshire Lasers, we have found that fewer treatments are usually needed to deliver the same results.
Carboxytherapy is also a good treatment for treating acne scars. A tiny needle is used to inject Carbon dioxide into the scar. The same needle can also be used to gently subcise deeper scars, which allows blood to pool under the affected area. The blood clot helps form connective tissue, which pushes up the rolling scar so it’s level with the rest of the skin’s surface. Carboxytherapy also increases blood flow to the scar promoting healing, reducing redness and stimulating collagen and elastin production. The result is smoother, fresher, more healthy-looking skin.
Carboxytherapy can cause bruising but otherwise has very little downtime.
The following research paper compares carboxytherapy with microneedling.
Microdermabrasion involves deep exfoliation of the top layer of skin. Your skin will look red after treatment but will soon settle down.
Although this treatment claims to treat scars, it only helps with minor superficial scars, such as mild surface acne scarring.
You will need a course of treatments for the best results.
Other Treatments for Acne Scarring
The following treatments are also options for treating scars. These treatments are not available at Cheshire Lasers. However, we can recommend local clinics that provide them.
TCA CROSS treatment
TCA CROSS treatment involves the application of trichloracetic acid at high concentrations to the base of a scar. This causes trauma to the scar tissue, which triggers an inflammatory response that stimulates the production of new collagen. After each treatment, the scar gradually fills in from the bottom up and reduces in appearance.
This treatment is very useful for various Acne scars, including ice pick, box and rolling scars. It can also help with chickenpox scars and enlarged pores
You can also consider Laser treatment to treat mild to moderate acne scarring. There are 2 types of laser treatment:
Ablative laser treatment – where lasers cause skin trauma and remove some scar tissue, to produce a new, smooth-looking area of skin. This treatment can have significant downtime.
Non-ablative laser treatment – where lasers are used to stimulate the growth of new collagen (a type of protein found in skin), which helps to repair some of the damage caused by scarring and improves the appearance
Punch techniques
Punch techniques are surgical methods that can treat ice-pick scars and boxcar scars. There are three types of punch technique:
Punch excision – used to treat mild ice pick scars. The scar is surgically removed, and the wound is sealed, leaving smoother and more even skin.
Punch elevation – used to treat boxcar scars. The base of the scar is surgically removed, leaving the sides of the scar in place. The base is then reattached to the sides but lifted up so it’s level with the surface of the skin. This makes the scar much less noticeable
Punch grafting – is used to treat deep ice-pick scars. As with punch excision, the scar is removed, but the wound is “plugged” with a sample of skin taken from elsewhere on the body.
Surgical Subcision
Subcision is a surgical treatment which can treat deep rolling scars. The upper layer of the skin is removed from the underlying scar tissue, allowing blood to pool under the affected area. The blood clot helps form connective tissue, which pushes up the rolling scar so it’s level with the rest of the skin’s surface.
Once subscision has been completed, additional treatments are usually needed to improve the appearance of the scar further.
Dr Teri Johnson and her associates use a wide range of premium Dermal Fillers brands at Cheshire Lasers Clinic the following is a summary of the products they use:
Restylane is one of the most popular Dermal Fillers used in the UK it was launched in 1996. It is a clear hyaluronic acid gel containing lidocaine to reduce treatment discomfort. Dr Teri Johnson started using it in 2006 when she trained in Dermal Fillers. Since then it has been improved, and a new range added.
Juvederm is another popular Dermal Filler that has been around for many years. It is a cross-linked hyaluronic acid gel. Dr Teri first started using it in 2006 when she first trained in Dermal Fillers. Since then it has been improved, and a new range added.
Belotero is a monophasic cross-linked hyaluronic acid filler which contains lidocaine. Launched in 2005 it is popular as it integrates well with the tissues. Dr Teri first started using it in 2006 when she first trained in Dermal Fillers. Since then a new range of products have been added to the range. She often uses Belotero Intense for lip plumping and volumising. Aesthetic Nurse Moira mostly uses Belotero Dermal Filler at Cheshire Lasers.
Stylage is a range of cross-linked injectable dermal fillers that contain hyaluronic acid and mannitol, an antioxidant. It’s been available in the UK since 2011. The mannitol reduces swelling after treatment and can also prolong the filler’s results. Dr Hazlehurst mostly uses Stylage Dermal Filler at Cheshire Lasers.
Radiesse has FDA approval it contains calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres in a carrier gel. It works as a filler initially but then stimulates your skin to produce new collagen.
HarmonyCa is a two-in-one treatment combining a hyaluronic acid dermal filler and Calcium Hydroxylapatite (CaHA) collagen stimulator. This treatment provides an immediate filing effect, which lasts 6 to 18 months, similar to other hyaluronic acid fillers combined with the long-lasting collagen-stimulating effect of CaHa found in Radiesse.
Dr Johnson and Dr Drinnan use HarmonyCa dermal filler at Cheshire Lasers.
Ellansé is a Dermal Filler and a Collagen Stimulator; it was introduced in the UK in 2010. It is a Unique and Innovative Dermal Filler which combines the benefits of both immediate corrections of wrinkles and folds, as well as stimulating the generation of the body’s natural collagen, for natural and longer-lasting results.
Dr Teri started using this product in 2018 and has been very impressed with the natural results her patients have achieved.
Sculptra launched in the UK in the year 2000, stimulates the growth of new collagen. It is used more as a sculpting and volumising agent for larger areas rather than a wrinkle filler. The product itself is not permanent, but the effects can be long-lasting.
Dr Teri trained in Sculptra in 2008, and it has been one of her favourite treatments over the last decade.
Profhilo launched in 2016; is the first stabilised hyaluronic acid (HA) based product manufactured without the use of chemical cross-linking agents (BDDE). Used for skin remodelling and hydration as well as treating skin laxity. It does not fill lines and wrinkles but can improve them due to its rejuvenation effects.
Profhilo is considered to be safe, effective and “a true breakthrough” in anti-ageing medicine.
Dr Teri has been using Profhilo since May 2017. It is a popular treatment due to its safety profile and the lovely results it can deliver.
Teosyal is another monophasic hyaluronic acid filler with a full product range. For fine lines, lip augmentation, smoker’s lines, and facial contouring (adding volume to cheeks, chins and other facial features).
Dr Teri uses Teosyal KISS for some of her lip enhancement treatments.
Cheshire Lasers is excited to introduce Trilogyice laser hair removal to our clinic. We are offering this treatment for hair removal for larger areas such as legs, arms and chests.
What is Trilogyice Hair Removal?
3D-Trilogyice hair removal uses three laser wavelengths in a single handpiece which simultaneously target different anatomical structures within the hair follicle. The melanin content in the hair attracts the pulses to conduct heat at a temperature above that of the surrounding dermal tissue. This heat damages the hair follicle and results in long term hair reduction.
This combination of wavelengths provides the safest and most comprehensive hair removal solution currently available today.
The Benefits of Trilogyice
Super-fast treatment
Precision application
Safe and virtually painless
Suitable for all skin types
Unprecedented Results
Is it Safe?
Trilogyice is an in-motion laser, this involves moving the laser applicator over the treatment area quickly. The applicator has a cooling tip which reduces the discomfort as well as ensuring safe, comfortable and effective hair removal. The laser heats the dermis and damages the hair follicles, without injuring the surrounding tissue.
The Trilogyice in motion protocol ensures virtually pain-free and effective hair reduction.
What happens during the treatment?
The handpiece is applied to the skin using gliding movements. You will experience may a warming sensation and some heat. After treatment, there can be a slight pinkness to the skin. The treatment itself is virtually painless.
Who performs the treatments?
Natasha and Kate both perform Trilogyice Laser hair removal at Cheshire Lasers clinic. Natasha has a Level 4 in Laser and IPL Hair whilst Kate our Level 3 Senior Aesthetician and Laser Technician holds a lasers and light certificate.
Who can have Trilogyice laser hair removal treatment?
The treatment is suitable for anyone who has unwanted hair in various areas of the face and body. The technology can treat hair colour from golden blonde through to black hair.
It is not suitable for grey or white hair.
It is suitable for anyone except dark skins with a Fitzpatrick scale of 5 or 6.
If you are interested in this treatment please book a consultation with Natasha or Kate to determine your suitability for treatment.
What areas can it treat?
Trilogyice can practically be used anywhere there is hair to include; underarms, legs, arms, face, chest, back and buttocks.
It is especially good for larger areas where treatments can be performed in a fraction of the time.
How many treatments will I need?
The number of treatments you will need varies for each person. Most people require a course of 6- 10 treatments.
How long does a laser hair removal treatment take?
The treatment time can vary, and depends on the size of the treatment area, but typically takes 20 to 45 minutes.
When will I see results?
You can see results from the first session and they continue to improve throughout the course of treatments.
For the best results, we recommend you regularly review your ZO skincare to ensure your skin protocol is the best for your skin and follow the latest advice from Dr Obagi.
Ensure you arrange to see one of our ZO-trained practitioners/prescribers who can review and update your regime. We recommend you speak to one of them at least every six months.

Product Update
Revitatrol has had an upgrade and is now called Hydrating Creme. It has moved into the ZO Skin Health packaging.
Hydrating Crème helps improve the overall appearance of the skin by restoring hydration, calming redness and smoothing skin texture. With continued use, patients reported that their skin felt healthier and smoother, and was more hydrated and less red.
After 4 weeks of use, 89% of patients showed significant improvement in skin hydration. After 8 weeks, 70% of patients showed significant improvement in redness, 100% of patients showed significant improvement in texture and smoothness and 82% reported diminished itching.
Please note the following kits no longer contain the trial size SPF and primer, due to ZO Skin Health now offering 4 different options of SPF for the face. This way we can recommend the SPF suited best to your skin type. The good news is the kits contain a slightly larger size cleanser and more complexion renewal pads and are at least £20 cheaper.
Earwax is produced by glands in the ear canal the colour can vary from yellow to bright orange, to dark brown.
It has the important function of keeping the ears clean and helps to protect the sensitive ear canal from things like bacteria and debris that can cause infections. In a healthy ear, the wax collects dirt, dead skin cells and bacteria and simply falls out without you noticing, cleaning as it goes.
Why do we get a build-up of Earwax?
Our ears are self-cleaning, with the help of cilia which are small hairs in the ear canal, which help gently and slowly remove the wax. Normally, it produces enough earwax to protect the ear without causing a build-up, but sometimes, this wax can become hard and impacted.
Some people are more prone to ear wax, especially if you have hairy or narrow ear canals or if you are unlucky and make more wax than normal. As we age, our wax can become hard, making it more difficult to fall out.
The use of cotton buds in an effort to ‘clean’ the ears from excess wax can damage the cilia hairs along the ear canal, which helps remove the wax and can actually cause earwax to build up. Cotton buds can also push the wax further into the ear, which leads to impacted wax.
The use of hearing aids, earbuds, earphones, earplugs and any other trauma to the ear canal can also lead to a build-up of wax.
Problems caused by Earwax build-up
Earwax build-up can lead to problems like hearing loss, tinnitus and discomfort.
The discomfort can vary and sometimes may cause only mild irritation but it can be much more severe and has even been known to cause severe discomfort enough for people to present to Accident and Emergency departments because of the distress caused.
How can you treat earwax build-up?
Do not use your fingers or any objects like cotton buds to remove earwax. This will push it in and make it worse.
Earwax usually falls out on its own. If it does not and blocks your ear use ear drops. Put 2 to 3 drops of olive or almond oil in your ear twice a day for several days. Over 2 weeks lumps of earwax should fall out of your ear this tends to happen more often at night when you’re lying down.
Do not use drops if you have a hole in your eardrum (a perforated eardrum). Speak to a pharmacist about earwax build-up. They can give advice and recommend chemical drops to dissolve the earwax. The earwax usually falls out on its own or dissolves a week or two.
See a nurse at your GP practice if:
your ear will not clear
your ear is badly blocked
you can’t hear anything
Traditionally, medical professionals would use ear syringing to remove an earwax build-up.
This would involve irrigating the whole ear canal with water to loosen the wax built up to try and clear it. This procedure can also damage the cilia in the ears leading to further wax build up later. There is also a small risk of infections and a very rare risk of damage to the eardrum. Ear Microsuction is now the preferred method of wax removal; however, this is not available in most GP surgeries.
Preventing earwax build-up
Once your ears are better, you can keep using ear drops to soften the wax; this will help it fall out easier, preventing a further build-up.

5/5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Absolutely fabulous service as always at Cheshire Lasers by all the staff I have met.
After having the Ultraformer treatment with Natasha, who is professional caring and explains every step. I am so very pleased with the results. I had the treatment for the under-eye area and has brightened, plumped and tightened exactly what I wanted. The treatment itself is quick painless and has no downtime, brilliant!
Will carry on having this as a maintenance treatment when needed and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to improve their under eye area.
Lucia
Cyspera was the original and first cysteamine cream. It contained 5% Cysteamine cream, which can lighten skin and treat hyperpigmentation disorders such as age spots, melasma, and postinflammatory hyperpigmentation.
This product was discontinued in 2022.
It was replaced by an improved version called Senté Cysteamine HSA Pigment & Tone Corrector containing 5% Cysteamine Cream, niacin amide and HSA in a 50ml tube.
How does Cyspera work?
As the name implies, the cream contains cysteamine, a metabolite of L-cysteine and a natural cellular component. L-cysteamine inhibits the production of melanin in the skin in several different ways which is why it is so effective.
A randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial confirmed the efficacy of cysteamine cream in treating epidermal melasma.
A reduction in pigmentation is usually seen after 6 weeks of consistent use. To achieve optimal results, it takes 8 to 12 weeks of regular use.
Contraindications to use:
Cysteamine cream should not be used by anyone with a personal or family history of the depigmenting disorder, vitiligo.
Do no use if you are pregnant or breast-feeding.
Can I use Cyspera in the summer?
You can use this treatment any time of year regardless of the intensity of sunlight, it is not a photosensitiser.
I have a dark skin tone can I still use it?
Yes it is suitable for all skin types and skin tones.
How to use Cyspera Cysteamine Cream
Intensive phase: Once per day for up to 16 weeks.
Maintenance phase: Twice-weekly, once per day, indefinitely.
Use a high SPF sunblock to prevent activating the pigmentation.
For best results, you need to make sure you are consistent and apply it daily for the full 15 minutes.
What are the side effects and risks?
Local side effects at the site of application may include:
Temporary heating up or burning sensation and redness that clears within 30 minutes
More persistent irritation and dryness, which you can treat with an emollient.
A burning sensation and mild redness might occur immediately after application, but it will usually disappear after 30 minutes. This is a normal reaction and may happen during the first few days of application.
No significant side effects, other than light to mild irritation are reported in only a few cases.
In case of sustained redness, irritation or dry-skin, suspend Cysteamine application and carefully hydrate the area with your basic hydration cream. You can then gradually resume Cysteamine application once your skin has recovered — once again, not washing it off your face until it has been on the skin for 15 minutes.
Undesirable side effects are rare if:
You leave the cream on for longer than 15 minutes of exposure.
You do not wash your face less than 1 hour before application.
How do I avoid cysteamine cream side effects?
You can minimise side-effects by:
Avoid washing your face just before applying.
(always wait for at least 1hr before applying)
Avoid prolonged application time use for 15 minutes only.
Avoiding concomitant use with other topical products.
