Neogen Plasma Treatment

Neogen Plasma Treatment Cheshire Middlewich

What is Neogen Plasma?

Neogen Plasma is a device made by Energist in Wales, which has become one of the most popular skin rejuvenation treatments.

It improves the skin surface, treating pigmentation and poor texture while boosting collagen and elastin to reduce wrinkles and fine lines and simultaneously tightening the skin.

Unlike traditional laser treatments that work only on the skin’s surface, Neogen also penetrates deeper layers, making it a superior option for anyone seeking to reverse signs of ageing, repair sun damage, or improve overall skin texture and tone.

Is it similar to a Plasma Pen device?

No, it is very different from handheld devices, which create tiny injuries on the skin’s surface. Neogen uses nitrogen gas, which it converts into plasma energy. This energy treats the skin more uniformly on the surface and penetrates deeper into the skin. It improves both the epidermis and dermis layers, stimulating collagen production over time while treating a range of skin concerns.

Neogen Plasma Treatment Cheshire difference between plasma pen

What does a Neogen Treatment involve?

Cheshire Lasers uses the latest Neogen Plasma EVO Device, which has a range of settings to control the energy and enable various treatments, from mild to moderate to more aggressive.  This ensures the outcome of the treatment chosen for you is predictable and reliable, with minimal risk of complications.

A handpiece delivers the nitrogen plasma energy and rapidly heats the skin, creating a controlled injury.

Most patients describe the feeling as warm but not painful. The intensity of the heat, however, can vary depending on the depth and intensity of the treatment. Lighter treatments feel milder, while more intensive sessions produce a stronger sensation that may require a topical anaesthetic.

The injury to the top layer leads to some superficial shedding of skin cells. This improves the skin’s texture, especially fine lines,  age spots, and acne scars. It also triggers your body’s natural healing response, creating healthy new collagen and elastin, resulting in immediate skin tightening and firmer, tighter skin over time.

Whether you’re looking to enhance the overall appearance of your skin or target specific concerns, Neogen offers a tailored approach that meets your individual needs and downtime.

Which Areas Can Neogen Plasma Treat?

At Cheshire Lasers, we mainly treat the face with Neogen Plasma; however, we also treat the body.

This is the only treatment we can use to treat the eyelids.

What Skin Issues Can It Treat?

What are the Benefits of Neogen Skin Rejuvenation?

If you’re considering Neogen skin rejuvenation at our Cheshire Lasers Clinic, here are some of the key benefits that make this treatment stand out:

  • Non-Invasive: Neogen is a non-surgical, non-invasive treatment with minimal discomfort and downtime.
  • Quick Recovery: Most patients can return to their daily routine shortly after treatment, with any redness typically subsiding within a few days.
  • Long-Lasting Results: The skin continues to improve for months after the treatment as collagen production is stimulated.
  • Safe for All Skin Types: Neogen plasma technology is safe for all skin tones and types, making it a versatile option for anyone seeking rejuvenation.
  • Customisable Treatment Levels: Whether you’re looking for a mild refresh or a more intensive anti-ageing solution, Neogen can be tailored to your specific skin needs.

What to Expect During Your Neogen Treatment

Before your Neogen treatment, we ask that you attend a consultation with one of our specialists. They will assess your skin and create a treatment plan to suit your needs.

During the procedure, the practitioner will use the plasma device to deliver controlled energy to the treatment area, creating a warming sensation as the nitrogen plasma works its magic.

Sometimes, we will apply a topical anaesthetic, but this is only necessary if you are opting for a deeper treatment. Depending on the intensity of the treatment, sessions usually last between 30 minutes to an hour.

After treatment, we will give you some products to use on your skin for the next few days to ensure you avoid any products that may irritate or delay the healing process.

ZO Restorative Peel

zo skin health stimulator peel

ZO Restorative Peel by Dr Zein Obagi MD – For Sensitive, Weak/Fragile Skin

Dr Obagi created the ZO Restorative Peel in 2024. This peel is extremely gentle on the skin and is great for restoring and hydrating dull, dry skin with redness and imperfections.

This peel contains a unique blend of alpha hydroxy acids (lactic, citric, and mandelic acid) to provide gentle surface exfoliation, instantly improving skin’s luminosity, texture, and tone for a restored complexion. It is appropriate for all skin types, especially dull, dry, weak, and redness-prone skin. It is also a good choice for sensitive acne-prone skin.

What happens during the ZO Restorative Peel?

Your skin will be cleansed using the appropriate cleanser from the ZO range to remove any makeup or oil. This is followed by ZO Exfoliating Polish and Polish Activator and ZO Peel Prep Solution to prepare the skin for the Peel.

The peel is then applied and left on for two to four minutes before neutralising Peel Neutraliser pads, which restores the skin’s pH.

A Brightening or Hydrating Medical mask is applied to boost your skin further.

The final step is using ZO Daily Power Defence moisturising serum and ZO Ommerse Renewal Cream to hydrate and protect your skin.

The active peel solution may cause some superficial peeling and slight initial reddening. However, the treatment exposes a new layer of healthy, undamaged skin, resulting in a smoother texture and even skin tone.

What are the benefits of the ZO Restorative Peel?

  • Instantly improving skin’s luminosity.
  • Improves skin texture and tone.
  • Soften fine lines and wrinkles.
  • Stimulate the production of collagen for firmer, more youthful skin.
  • Stimulate the growth of healthy cells while you shed damaged skin.
  • Improves dull, dry and redness-prone skin
  • Suitable for sensitive acne-prone skin
  • Treats mild acne and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
  • Reduces pore size.
  • Improves the efficacy of skincare products.
  • No downtime.
  • Immediate results.

Who should (and should not) have the ZO Restorative Peel?

This peel is recommended for adults with dull, dry, and redness-prone skin and sensitive acne-prone skin that needs restoration.

We do not recommend the peel for those who are:

  • Pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Using Roaccutane or prescription retinoids
  • Having radiation or chemotherapy
  • Allergic to lactic, citric, and mandelic acids

Do I need to prepare my skin before the peel?

You do not need to perform any preparation or use any specific skin care before the ZO Restorative Peel. However, you will get better results if you use some ZO products before the treatment.

How long does the treatment take?

The treatment will take about 45 minutes.

You will notice the results immediately. Your skin will be fresher, glowing, and with improved texture and tone. We recommend a course of treatments for optimum results.

How long before I see results?

Most people will see an improvement in their skin after just one peel. However, we recommend a course of 3 to 4 Peels, 4-6 weeks apart for maximum benefit.

Maintenance

Ideally, every four months or before special events.

Enhance the results of your ZO Restorative Peel.

An additional ZO Mask can be added to your Restorative Peel to enhance the results for your skin. If you opt for one of these, your treatment time will be 10 minutes longer :

ZO Hydra Mask

Other ZO Hydra massage gel and mask ingredients make this ideal for dry, dehydrated or weak skin.

ZO Brightening Mask

A ZO Brightening mask and a brightening massage cream make this ideal for sun-damaged skin with age spots and pigmentation.

ZO Complexion Clearing Masque

Containing eucalyptus and kaolin for antiseptic and detoxifying benefits.

How do I Book a ZO Restorative Peel at Cheshire Lasers?

At Cheshire Lasers, our Level 4 Laser Technician and Aestheticians perform the ZO Stimulator Peels and offer ZO Skincare advice.

We recommend you book a skin consultation and analysis before booking your treatment so they can determine the most appropriate peel for your skin.

Profhilo Structura

Profhilo Structura Middlewich Cheshire

Introducing Profhilo Structura

Profhilo Structura is an exciting new treatment that regenerates the superficial fatty tissue under the skin. In the same way that Profhilo restores skin cells, Structura restores the tissues in the adipose layer of the skin to give a lifting, contouring effect. It is the first and only treatment available in 2024 with evidence that it can stimulate the cells in this layer.

How does Profhilo Structura differ from Profhilo?

Structura contains more Hyaluronic Acid (90mg/2ml ) than Profhilo (64mg/2ml), which means it behaves differently in the tissues.

Standard Profhilo spreads easily through the skin, stimulating collagen and elastin.

Structura spreads in the fatty tissue, activating ageing adipose fat cell receptors and encouraging them to mimic the behaviour of their youth. This improves fat cell quality and a lifting effect. Structura is clinically proven to restore superficial fat to its original position, effectively reducing facial hollows and skin laxity, resulting in a more lifted, contoured, and rejuvenated facial profile.

Like the original Profhilo, Structura is not a filler. The results people achieve are due to tissue regeneration.

Both treatments offer unique rejuvenation and anti-ageing benefits tailored to different concerns and treatment areas.

What does the treatment involve?

The treatment is quick and easy to perform with minimal discomfort. A cannula inserts the product into the correct layer and position, and an immediate lifting effect can often be seen. The product then gets to work, stimulating the cells in the adipose layer. A second treatment is required 30 days later to continue the process and achieve visible results.

There is minimal downtime, so you can go about your day after treatment.

Maintenance and Follow-up

Maintenance treatments are typically every four to six months to maintain the results, depending on a person’s individual response.

Who is suitable for Treatment?

We recommend Structura treatment for patients with well-defined structures that need superficial enhancement. It is a popular choice for those seeking natural, subtle improvements without a drastic change in facial volume.

There are different treatment protocols depending on how you have aged.

Patients are usually either:

  • ‘Sinkers’ – thin faces with facial hollowing needing lateral volume. Profile 1.
  • ‘Saggers’ – heavier faces with skin descent due to laxity, slight jowl formation and flatting of the cheek. By injecting along their cheekbone and in front of their ear, we can achieve more reshaping in a natural, balanced manner. Profile 2.

Profhilo structura Cheshire ageing profile suitable for treatment

Is Profhilo Structura Safe?

So far, studies have shown no concerning adverse events.
Patients have reported high satisfaction and have also shown an increase in skin thickness and texture.

Can I combine Structura with other treatments?

It can be used alongside other aesthetic treatments, including Botox and Fillers. Treating each layer of the face according to its needs ensures a holistic improvement for best results.

Mole Removal

mole removal reduction

How do you remove Moles?

Shave excision is the easiest and most common way of mole removing a mole that protrudes from the skin.
The procedure is for raised moles, not flat moles, which require full surgical removal with a private surgeon.

Shave excision involves a tiny injection of local anaesthetic just under the mole to numb the skin so that you won’t feel any discomfort. A special surgical removal technique is then used to remove the mole or lesion so it is flat on the skin. It takes a few minutes to perform. Usually, stitches are not required, as we use heat to cauterise any blood vessels afterwards.

What are Moles?

Moles are very common skin lesions that can occur in people of any age. They are not usually harmful, however, if they are prominent, they can cause people to be self-conscious.

What will it be like after treatment?

After the procedure, the area will remain numb for an hour.

It will look like a flat scab and usually does not need a dressing. Once the anaesthetic has worn off, the wound will feel like a graze.

The scab will fall off naturally after a week leaving a flat pink area. The pink area then usually changes back to normal skin colour after a few weeks. Sometimes, however, the skin may be l permanently lighter or darker following removal.

Most patients cannot believe how quick and easy mole shave excision is and often say that they wish they had done it sooner.

What Happens to my Mole After Removal?

Your mole will be sent to Poundbury Cancer Institute Laboratory for analysis. Results usually come back about ten days after the procedure.

Who performs Mole Removal at Cheshire Lasers?

A Mole removal treatment takes up to an hour, however, we allow 90 mins appointment time. This is to allow Moira to assess your mole and make sure it is suitable for treatment. She will then discuss the procedure in more detail and consent you for treatment.

Injectable Collagen Stimulating Treatments

collagen stimulating treatments at Cheshire Lasers Clinic Middlewich

Dr Teri Johnson discusses her experience with injectable collagen-stimulating treatments at Cheshire Lasers Clinic Middlewich. She shares the available options for collagen-stimulating injections, their mechanisms of action, and what to expect from treatment.

What Makes Injectable Collagen Stimulators Special?

As we age, the natural production of collagen decreases, leading to wrinkles and loose, unforgiving skin formation. We also lose bone and fat in our face, which results in loss of volume and sagging. Collagen simulators can address many of these changes, delivering some fantastic results.

I fell in love with injectable collagen-stimulating treatments in 2008 when using Sculptra. This soon became my favourite treatment because of the way it stimulates our natural collagen production.  Sculptra is fantastic. It can create volume like a dermal filler and also improves skin quality. Within a few weeks of treatment, you can often see an improvement in the skin’s elasticity, hydration, firmness, and texture. A few months down the line, the results are even better.

Some collagen stimulators are only suitable for treating certain areas, whereas others are more flexible and can produce collagen wherever you inject them.

Depending on where you inject a Collagen stimulator, the effect is that if used deep, they replace volume and reposition tissues, but if placed in the skin, they improve skin quality.

Types of Injectable Collagen Stimulating Treatments:

Poly-L-lactic Acid (PLLA)

Poly-L-lactic Acid (e.g., Sculptra): is a biocompatible synthetic polymer that stimulates collagen production when injected into the skin. Sculptra is a popular PLLA filler that gradually improves skin texture and volume over multiple treatment sessions. Sculptra 150mg PLLA has been available the longest since 2004 but has been available since 2000 under the name of New-Fill. It is known for its natural, gradual results, lasting over two years.  In 2021, Lanluma was launched in the UK. It also contains PLLA. There are two types: Lanluma V: 210 mg for the face, which is like Sculptra, and Lanluma X: 630 mg  I for treating large body areas.

PLLA is injected in a suspension. After treatment, the skin looks plumped up for a day or two but quickly returns to normal over a few days.
The results are visible from six weeks and continue to develop over many months.
The results usually last over two years; improvements have been seen in some people with Sculptra up to five years later.

Calcium Hydroxylapatite (CaHA)

Calcium Hydroxylapatite (CaHA) Fillers (e.g., Radiesse): CaHA stimulates collagen production over time. Radiesse is made up of synthetic Calcium Hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres (30%) suspended in a gel carrier (70%). The carrier gel is an aqueous gel that contains sodium carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC), glycerin and high-purity water. Radieese is a flexible product that can create Volume when used deep in the tissues and can improve the skin when injected under the skin. Radiesse is sometimes used off-label in a diluted or hyper-diluted solution to treat and improve skin laxity.

The gel gives an immediate short-term filling effect; over a few months, the gel slowly degrades collagen takes its place.
The results can last up to 24 months.

Polycaprolactone (PCL)

Polycaprolactone (PCL) Fillers (e.g., Ellansé): PCL is a bioresorbable polymer that promotes collagen synthesis and provides long-lasting results. Ellansé is a PCL filler available in different formulations, offering immediate volumisation and gradual collagen stimulation. Ellansé contains PolyCaproLactone (PCL) microspheres suspended in a carrier gel. The carrier gel consists of carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) made from non-animal, human or bacterial sources. It has a license for treating volume loss and age-related wrinkles.

The gel gives an immediate short-term filling effect; over a few months, the gel slowly degrades, and collagen takes its place.
The results can last 18 to over 30 months.

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy:

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) Therapy, also known as Dracula Therapy, involves extracting a small amount of the patient’s blood, processing it to concentrate platelets and growth factors, and then injecting it back into the skin. PRP stimulates collagen production and promotes tissue regeneration, improving skin texture and tone.

This treatment is popular as it is natural, and no artificial products are used. After treatment, the skin is slightly swollen but returns to normal after a few days. The results from this treatment are fantastic for improving skin but can be subtle as the platelets do not stay in the skin as long as the other products. It is, therefore, not as good for creating volume unless you have a lot of treatments.
The results can last 6 to 12 months.

Profhilo

Profhilo contains high concentrations of hyaluronic acid (HA), a naturally occurring substance in the body that helps maintain skin hydration and elasticity. When injected into the skin, Profhilo spreads evenly and stimulates the production of new collagen and elastin fibres through a process known as “remodelling.” This results in improved skin hydration, firmness, and overall rejuvenation. The product remains in the skin for about a month before fully breaking down, leaving behind your natural collagen.

Profhilo only improves the collagen within the skin. It has no effect on collagen production deep under the skin and has no filling / volumising effect.
The results can last 6 to 12 months.

Polynucleotides

Nucleofill, Plenhyage, and Plinest are all polynucleotide treatments that regenerate the skin by stimulating collagen and elastin growth. They also improve signs of ageing, reduce laxity and dehydration, as well as improve scars and some pigmentation. The body breaks down the polynucleotides quickly, but the cascade of collagen production can remain for some time after treatment. Polynucleotides appeal to people some people as the particles don’t hang around in your body for months like many of the other collagen stimulators available.

Polynucleotides are excellent for improving skin quality but are not recommended for filling or volumising.

Skin improvements are usually seen 7-10 days after treatment, and continues to improve for 3-4 weeks.

The results can last 6 to 12 months.

HarmonyCa Hybrid Dermal Filler and Collagen Stimulator

HarmonyCa is a two in one treatment combining a hyaluronic acid dermal filler and CaHa collagen stimulator. This treatment provides an immediate filing effect which lasts 6 to 18 months similar to other hyaluronic acid fillers combined with the long lasting collagen stimulating effect of CaHa found in Radiesse.

The results can last for 24 months.

Benefits of Injectable Collagen Stimulating Treatments:

  • Stimulate Natural Collagen Production
  • They target the root cause of skin ageing by promoting the body’s collagen synthesis.
  • Long-lasting Results: Injectable collagen stimulators gradually improve skin texture, volume, and elasticity.
  • The treatments are injectable and have minimal downtime.
  • Most treatments can address many concerns, including wrinkles, volume loss, and skin laxity.

Considerations and Safety:

Side Effects

While generally safe, injectable collagen stimulating treatments may cause temporary swelling, redness, bruising, or discomfort at the injection site.

Irreversibility

Some injectable collagen stimulators remain in the tissues for many months. If you have a side effect or reaction you can not dissolve the product.

This is the case for PLLA, CaHA and PLL the are the three products which are the best for creating volume. Lumps and bumps can develop after these three treatments if you do not massage the area for up to a week after treatment to prevent them. There is also a rare risk of delayed lumps and bumps occurring if the body immunity react to them at any time while the particles are still there.

Fortunately PRP, Profhilo and Polynucleotides are not prone to these issues.

Results are Variable

Different people create different amounts of collagen. Results for the collagen stimulators vary with some people creating a lot more collagen than others. Without trying the treatment it is difficult to predict how good a response you will get. Also some people respond to one treatment better than another.

Maintenance

Depending on the treatment, you will usually need multiple treatments to achieve optimal results, and periodic maintenance treatments if you want to sustain the benefits.

Conclusion:

Injectable collagen stimulating treatments offer an effective and minimally invasive approach to rejuvenating the skin and restoring a youthful appearance. By stimulating the body’s natural collagen production process, these treatments provide long-lasting improvements in skin texture, volume, and elasticity.

Whether you’re seeking to address wrinkles, volume loss, or skin laxity, consult with a qualified provider to explore the options available and embark on your journey to revitalized skin.

Intimate Dermal Fillers For Genital Rejuvenation

Intimate Genital labial Vaginal Dermal Filler.

Here at Cheshire Lasers, Moira Grobicki of Jouvence Aesthetics performs dermal fillers for genital rejuvenation. Moira has over 20 years of experience in genital sexual health work, including 16 years as a Sexual Health Clinical Nurse Specialist in the NHS.

Which Intimate areas do Dermal Fillers treat?

The treatment involves dermal filler injections into the outer lips of the vulva, known as the labia majorum and or the vagina. The treatment can benefit the entire vulva area, including the inner and outer labia, the clitoris, the urethra, and the vaginal opening.

Why Consider Dermal Fillers for the Genital Area?

Normal ageing, hormonal changes linked to menopause, weight variations, pregnancy and childbirth may all lead to a loss of volume and shape in the labia majora, affecting the appearance of the genital area.

As we age, the body starts to produce less collagen and elastin. Many women notice this change in their faces, and similar changes take place in the genital area.

The labia majora has a protective role as it covers the labia minora, the urethra and the vaginal opening. If the labia becomes thinner, it may lead to vaginal dryness, vulval discomfort, irritation and burning, plus sexual problems as intercourse may become painful. Certain exercises may also become uncomfortable, such as cycling or horse riding.

Common problems include:

  • Flattening or sagging of the labia
  • Uneven labia (asymmetry)
  • Poor vaginal lubrication
  • Discomfort during sex due to smaller labia majora
  • Loss of confidence due to changes in appearance

Injecting special hyaluronic acid dermal fillers into the labia majora will increase the volume of the area to achieve a fuller, plumper appearance.  It can also correct asymmetries or any contour deficiency.

Which Dermal Fillers Improve the Genital Area

At Cheshire Lasers, Moira uses DESIRIAL® Plus, a hyaluronic acid-based injectable filler from Laboratoires VIVACY. It rejuvenates the labia majora to improve its appearance and function as well as promoting natural healing and cell regeneration. It also contains Mannitol, which has an antioxidant effect.

DESIRIAL® Plus is indicated for women with moderate hypotrophy or atrophy (volume loss) of the vulvar labia majora.

Desirial Plus Intimate Genital labial Vaginal Dermal Filler.

What are the benefits of a Desirial Plus Treatment?

This treatment is sometimes called the Labial Puff treatment.

Benefits can include:

  • Evens out asymmetries in your labia
  • Improves the appearance of your vulva
  • Improves vaginal lubrication
  • Protects your labia minora, making sex more comfortable
  • Regenerates your vaginal walls, increasing sexual pleasure
  • Restores your sexual confidence
  • Reduce discomfort with certain exercise, such as cycling or horse riding.

What does a Desirial Plus Treatment involve?

The treatment involves injecting small amounts of hyaluronic acid dermal filler into the labia majorum and sometimes other key areas of the vulva. This then plumps, firms, and improves the structure of your labia and stimulates the regeneration of collagen and elastin cells to give a more youthful labia majora.

Depending on the problems you’ve been experiencing, the vaginal wall may also need treatment.  The treatment may be given alongside PRP Genital Rejuvenation, depending on your needs.

Aesthetic Nurse Moira uses a combination of topical creams and local anaesthetic injections to numb the areas before injecting the filler.

The entire treatment process usually takes around 30 minutes.

You won’t require any recovery time, so you can return to your normal schedule the same day.

Results and Maintenance:

Results will be noticeable in the labia immediately following the dermal filler treatment and continue to improve in the weeks to follow as your body rebuilds new collagen and elastin cells.

Most people require a single treatment session to get the desired results, which usually lasts 6-24 months.

You can arrange a repeat treatment as and when you require it to help prolong the results.

Post Procedure Advice

Avoid sex for five days following your labial puff treatment to give your body time to adjust. You can then resume your normal sexual activity.

Osteopaths have the expertise and training to provide you with a thorough examination, taking the time to find out as much as possible about your current and past health history. They will also undertake physical examinations to ensure that they can provide the most suitable treatment plan or refer you to other healthcare professionals if required.

Osteopaths do NOT just treat backs!

Of course, they do, but Osteopaths treat all joints and muscle dysfunction in the body, from your head attachment to your neck down to your elbow, knees, ankles, fingers and feet.

Osteopathy is a system of healthcare which includes clinical reasoning, diagnosis, nutritional and lifestyle advice, exercise therapy and hands-on therapy. Osteopaths are highly-qualified healthcare practitioners with a Medical Sciences degree and a specialist knowledge of anatomy and musculoskeletal conditions. Osteopaths are recognised as Allied Health professionals by NHS England (as are paramedics, podiatrists and more). This puts Osteopaths on an equal standing to dentists or physiotherapists and guarantees an equivalent high level of care.

Health Education England (HEE) and the Institute of Osteopathy have published a quick guide to support clinical and workforce leads, operational managers, and any senior leaders who are involved in workforce development to understand the value that osteopaths can bring to productive NHS services and facilitate the best use of the multi-professional workforce.

The Institute of Osteopathy (iO) has teamed up with the NHS and launched iO NHS internships to facilitate the recruitment of more Osteopaths in NHS Musculoskeletal (MSK) Teams.

How can an Osteopath Help me?

Osteopaths have a well-deserved, evidence-based reputation for expertise in treating musculoskeletal conditions, such as back, neck, joint, muscle and arthritic discomfort.

People also visit osteopaths for various other health reasons, including neuromuscular conditions such as sciatica, digestive issues, headaches and migraine prevention.

What can I expect during a consultation?

Osteopaths will take the time to understand your symptoms, medical history and lifestyle, which will help them diagnose the cause of your issue.

You will need to undertake a physical examination. This will often comprise you undertaking some movements and for the osteopath to examine areas to feel for any tightness in the muscles and stiffness in the joints to identify problems.

Sometimes the cause of the problem may be in a different area to the pain. For example, pain in your lower arm may be linked to the nerves in your neck, so they may need to examine your whole body.

Your osteopath may refer you for tests like X-rays, MRIs or blood tests. Occasionally, they may diagnose an issue they cannot treat and refer you to your GP or another appropriate health professional.

As with any health consultation, they will record this confidential information to form part of your health record and store it in accordance with legal requirements for medical data.

What does treatment involve?

Osteopathic treatment often involves manual therapy – a range of gentle hands-on techniques that focus on releasing tension, stretching muscles and improving mobility – together with exercises and helpful advice designed to help you relieve or manage your pain, keep active and maintain the best of health.

Before an osteopath starts any treatment, they will explain what is involved so you can agree and consent to your course of treatment.

Osteopathic treatment is usually a very gentle process. There may be times when you experience discomfort during or experience some mild soreness after treatment. This will normally go away within 48 hours. Your osteopath will let you know if they think that any of the techniques they recommend are likely to be uncomfortable.

If you experience serious or unusual symptoms after treatment, you should contact your osteopath immediately for advice.

What training do Osteopaths have?

An osteopath must attain specialist degree-level training, either a Bachelor of Science (BSc.) or integrated Masters (MOst.), plus complete over 1000 hours of clinical placements (direct patient contact time).

By law, an osteopath must register with the General Osteopathic Council (GOsC) to practise in the UK.

To maintain their registration with GOsC, osteopaths must meet mandatory continuous professional development (CPD): keeping skills and knowledge up-to-date and maintaining high professional development standards.

Am I too young / too old to see an Osteopath?

Osteopaths are trained in therapeutic approaches that are suitable for individuals of all ages, including the frail and the elderly. Osteopathic care is delivered through various interventions depending on the patient’s needs. This may include referral, health education, manual therapy, exercise therapy and nutrition,
Manual therapy techniques may include articulation and manipulation of joints and soft tissues.

Based on evidence submitted to the Committee of Advertising Practice (CAP) before November 2016, the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) and CAP accept that Osteopaths can claim to treat the following:

K-Laser for Pain

Signature HealthK laser for pain and muscular problems

What is a K-Laser?

K-Lasers are medical devices that utilise specific wavelengths of light known as low-level laser therapy (LLLT) to interact with tissue at the cellular level.

K-lasers help the body heal and have a wide range of uses. It is a helpful tool for improving a range of soft tissue injuries and chronic pain conditions.

What can K-Laser treat?

It can be used to treat the following conditions:

  • Pain Management. It can improve pain from various sources, such as musculoskeletal injuries, arthritis, neuropathy, and fibromyalgia.
  • Muscle Injuries and Strains. K-Laser therapy can help accelerate healing and reduce pain in cases of muscle strains, tears, and overuse injuries. It relaxes muscle spasms and supports tissue repair.
  • Joint Conditions. Arthritis, including osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis, can benefit from K-Laser.
  • Tendon and Ligament Injuries. K-Laser therapy can enhance healing in conditions like tendonitis and ligament sprains by promoting tissue repair and reducing pain.
  • Wound Healing. K-Laser minimises scars in fresh wounds
  • Back and Neck Pain. It can help with pain and stiffness in the back and neck, such as disc problems and spinal stenosis.
  • Nerve Pain (Neuropathy). It can help reduce nerve pain and improve nerve function in cases of diabetic neuropathy, peripheral neuropathy, and nerve entrapment syndromes.
  • Sports Injuries. It can help with common sports injuries like sprains, strains, and ligament tears, promoting quicker recovery and return to activity.
  • Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. K-Laser therapy can help reduce pain and inflammation associated with carpal tunnel syndrome by targeting the affected area.
  • TMJ Pain.
  • Plantar Fasciitis. K-Laser therapy can help relieve pain and inflammation in the foot caused by plantar fasciitis.
  • Postsurgical Recovery. K-Laser therapy can aid in postsurgical healing by reducing pain and inflammation, improving tissue repair, and minimising scar tissue formation.
  • Complex Pain Conditions. Such as interstitial cystitis and prostate pain.

How does K-Laser Work?

1 Reduces Pain

K-Laser therapy can help reduce pain associated with various concerns. The laser’s energy stimulates the release of endorphins, which are natural pain-relieving chemicals produced by the body. This can lead to a reduction in pain perception and an overall improvement in comfort.

2 Reduces Inflammation

Inflammation is a typical response to injury and can be present in some chronic pain conditions. Excessive inflammation can cause pain and also delay healing. K-Laser therapy has been shown to help reduce inflammation by promoting better blood flow and lymphatic drainage, thereby aiding in the body’s natural healing.

3 Faster Healing

K-Laser therapy can enhance the body’s ability to heal and repair.  The laser’s energy boosts the metabolism of individual cells, which leads to faster healing of tissues, such as muscles, tendons, and ligaments.

4 Improves Circulation

The laser can improve circulation, increasing the body’s oxygen and nutrient supply to support healing and repair.

5 Reduces Scar Tissue Formation

K-Laser therapy may help prevent the risk of scar tissue, mainly when applied during the early stages of the healing process. This can lead to better tissue quality and improved range of motion as an injury heals.

6 Muscle Relaxation:

The laser can help relax muscle fibres and reduce muscle tension, improving flexibility and reducing muscle tension and discomfort.

How successful is K-Laser Treatment?

The success of K-Laser treatment, like any treatment, can vary widely. It depends on many factors, including the condition being treated, the severity of the condition, and the individual’s response.

K-Laser therapy tends to be more successful for conditions that involve pain, inflammation, and tissue healing. It may be less effective for conditions with complex underlying causes but can make a significant difference for some individuals.

It has a higher success rate for recent injuries than long-standing conditions.

While K-Laser therapy can benefit injury treatment significantly, it is rarely used on its own. For best effects, it is usually part of a treatment plan that may include a range of other treatments such as Osteopathy and Nutritional Support.
